It just got a little colder in the Pointe Orlando complex. Minus 5 Celsius to be exact (23 degrees Fahrenheit), in the brand new Minus5 Ice Bar attraction. The cold never bothered you anyway, right?

minus5 ice bar orlando penguinThe Minus5 Ice Bar, which opened America’s first ice bar at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas (September 2008) has opened its newest location at Pointe Orlando (9101 International Drive). The ice bar will include all the frozen beauty of the originals, where everything is made of 100 percent of ice, including the bar, tables, benches, walls and even the glasses guests drink from.

Minus5 Ice Bars are designed to reflect the personality of the city where they operate. In Vegas, the décor features iconic carvings such as the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign, in New York City there is a “Lady Liberty” and Orlando has taken this a step further by including a variety of iconic Florida images including hand-carved palm trees, penguins, space shuttles and a wall that features a variety of frozen sea creatures.

“Minus5 is more than a bar; it’s an attraction that celebrates ice as art and is an entertainment experience that our guests come back for time-and-time again,” added Bowman. “We are pleased to announce that our Orlando location, much like our New York location, is also kid friendly offering a discounted admission for visitors between the ages of 7 and 15 daily before 9 p.m.”

Basic Admission is $17 for those 16 and older, and $10 for those under 16. The price includes the use of a parka and gloves. They are open Sunday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to midnight, and from 1 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. They also have a package which includes two cocktails (or mocktails) for $37.

If you’d like to upgrade to the VIP package for $55, you get to use a fur coat, gloves, one drink and a souvenir hat. For $75, you get all that plus a framed 5×7 photo and two drinks.

To reach Minus5 Orlando, call (407) 704-6959. To book private events (parties of 15 or more) please contact [email protected] Visit their website at Minus5Experience.com. Minus5 Orlando is located downstairs at Pointe Orlando (9101 International Dr.).
