Disney’s Polynesian Resort is getting a new look, a new name and a Disney fan favorite.
We previously told you about the Disney Vacation Club villas coming to Disney’s Polynesian Resort. But Disney has much more planned for the original Walt Disney World iconic hotel.
The Polynesian is getting a new name, actually its original name. It was first called Polynesian Village Resort Hotel. Now it is Disney’s Polynesian Resort. But starting next year, it will be known as Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
In addition to the DVC bungalows being built out on the lake, above, the lobby will be getting a makeover. Here’s a look at an artist rendering:
The “Poly” also plans to add Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, a highly-themed lounge featuring tiki cocktails and Polynesia-themed small plates. There’s also a very popular Trader Sam’s at the Disneyland Hotel in California. Here’s two pieces of concept art for Disney World’s version, opening in 2015:
