“Star Wars: The Bad Batch” takes a familiar time period from the original trilogy canon and explores it in unexpected and unique ways.
At today’s Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, Disney+ revealed premiere dates for some of the highly-anticipated series coming to the streaming service this year, including “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” Marvel Studios’ “Loki,” and more.
The Disney Investor 2020 event made for a historically big day for Star Wars and Disney+ alike. During this event there were massive new slate releases for Marvel Studios, the Walt Disney Studios, Walt Disney Animation, Pixar, National Geographic and Star Wars. Disney confirmed the names of nine new Star Wars series for Disney+, and the confirmation of the next big Star Wars feature film, “Rogue Squadron.”
With the massive success of the “The Mandalorian” on Disney+, and with Disney’s quality-first business strategy, comes the next set of Star Wars shows to Disney’s streaming service. “The Bad Batch” will be an animated series spinoff from “The Clone Wars” Star Wars show.
Disney+ has officially ordered its next animated series from Lucasfilm, titled “Star Wars: The Bad Batch.” Featuring characters introduced in the final season of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” this Disney+ original series will premiere in 2021.
