This past Saturday, Disney Online announced the winner of its “Design a Fairy House Art Contest,” which ran in February on the online world for girls, Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow (www.PixieHollow.com). The winning fairy house design, inspired by 15-year-old Zoe Periale from Frazier Park, Calif., was revealed during a special ceremony in the Pixie Hollow Garden at the Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival. Zoe and her family were in attendance to celebrate the momentous occasion.
The winning house design was selected by DisneyToon Studios filmmakers, currently working on the upcoming “Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue” movie coming to Disney Blu-ray and DVD this fall. Director Brad Raymond and Producer Helen Kalafatic attended the celebration to personally congratulate the winner, meet with Tinker Bell fans and sign autographs.
“We were thrilled to honor Zoe and her winning design at this very special celebration,” said Jason Everett, Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow product director. “This contest offered the Pixie Hollow community an exciting opportunity to utilize their love for Disney Fairies as inspiration to create their very own fairy house art design.”
A luncheon preceded the announcement. Zoe and her family, media and some Disney cast members and their families were also in attendance and were able to meet Tinker Bell and her friend Terence. Some of the cast member’s daughters also created fairy houses that were on display during lunch.
Zoe’s fairy house will be on display in the Pixie Hollow Garden at Epcot for the rest of the festival. [Read more…]
Kris Allen shouted the famous words “I’m Going to Disney World!” immediately after being crowned the newest American Idol in the show’s star-studded season finale on May 20, 2009 in Los Angeles.
Disney camera crews captured Allen’s celebratory pronouncement on the Nokia Theatre stage mere moments after American Idol host Ryan Seacrest announced the champion’s name to millions of viewers watching worldwide.
Not only does the newly crowned Idol shout “I’m Going to Disney World!” at the spot’s conclusion, Allen’s voice also is featured throughout the ad as he performs the iconic song, “When You Wish Upon A Star.”
And with the same immediacy that has made the Disney spot one of the most beloved commercials of all-time, the newest “I’m Going to Disney World!” commercial aired on television within hours of the American Idol finale.
Starring in a role usually occupied by sports stars – including Super Bowl heroes and World Series champs – Allen is the second singer to ever star in the Disney commercial in its 20 plus-year history. (2008 American Idol champion, David Cook, was the first.)
The American Idol champion’s role in the newest “I’m Going to Disney World” commercial celebrates “The American Idol Experience,” the new American Idol-themed attraction that had a February 2009 grand opening Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
