Terminator VR experience debuts in California

A brand new virtual reality (VR) experience, “Terminator Salvation: Fight for the Future”, has opened its doors at The Spectrum Center in Irvine, California. This multi-sensory, free-roaming VR experience combines technology, video games and storytelling for a unique experience around the iconic property.

The mission enlists a team of up to four players to be teleported through time to a dystopian world to work together disabling a Skynet satellite. Teams must accomplish several tasks using tangible, real life objects mixed with the virtual world, while using their weapon to eliminate Terminators from all directions.

Free-roaming equipment includes a headset, backpack, hand and feet trackers.

The mission involves going undercover, which combines the player with a mechanical Terminator body. The 3D facial scanning puts guests directly in the world itself, allowing players to see themselves and each other instead of a generic identifier. This is a fun feature when it comes to the gameplay highlight video available for purchase.

Gameplay avatars featuring player’s 3D scanned faces with final scores and scoreboards.

A point system also makes this specific VR play more like a video game. This competitive element allows guests to return to improve their score or maintain their spot on the leaderboard.

To book this experience, visit spaces.com. Tickets are $30 and the experience is recommended for ages 10 and up.
