Video: Behind the scenes of Manta

SeaWorld has a new video on their ridetheflyingray.com Web site showing behind the scenes of their new Manta coaster. It looks like the video was shot about a month ago, but it still offers an interesting look at the ride vehicles and the Manta tanks.

  1. I love behind the scenes videos, but whoever filmed that should have spent a lot less time on the goofy un-funny guys and high-speed “artistic” cuts/movement/etc.

  2. Slightly related rant:

It reminds me of how I generally don’t like “official” ride videos. The official videos always spend all kinds of face-time on the people on the ride, usually turning around to show people’s reactions on the main drop which is the drop I want to “experience” via the video! When I’m watching a ride video, I want to see the ride, not several kids giggling.

  3. But they don’t want to “ruin” the ride for you by showing you all the fun parts!

It’s like having a commercial for a new super-cleaning mop and only including close-ups of the person using it, smiling at how clean the floor is getting – without actually showing the mop or the floor.

  4. @micsaund @Ricky I used to work for a theme park, doing branding, and one of the reasons why “riders” are focused on so heavily is to show others the “experience.” Folks want to see how other people are enjoying the attraction….
