Video: Epcot debuts new Spaceship Earth holiday light show

As if the new Spaceship Earth Beacon of Magic lights couldn’t get any better, Disney has debuted a new mini holiday show. This show doesn’t have a specific showtime.

This holiday light show lasts about a minute-and-a-half in length. During that time, guests will see a “gust of snow,” a hidden Mickey, a peppermint design and an ugly sweater look for Spaceship Earth. The show is enhanced by holiday music, the surrounding speciality lighting at the park’s entrance, and the colored lighting in the pylon fountain.

Epcot isn’t the only park doing special mini-shows this year. All four Walt Disney World park icons are doing their own show for the 50th anniversary. The iconic Hollywood Tower Hotel glitters with EARidescence, evoking the glimmer and shimmer of the golden age of imagination and adventure; Cinderella Castle shimmers with gold projections as spotlights beam upon its iconic gold spires; and the Tree of Life evokes the colors and bioluminescence of nature as dusk fades to night.

Many have said, myself included, that the new lights on Spaceship Earth are the best part so far of the 50th anniversary celebrations at Walt Disney World. Pictures truly do not showcase the color, brightness and awe-inspiring look of this new addition to Spaceship Earth, and this new show adds even more to this offering. This mini-holiday show is expected to last as long as the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays, which is happening this year from Nov. 26 to Dec. 30.
