Universal’s Volcano Bay officially opened on May 25, 2017.

Guests can now experience Universal’s Volcano Bay water park, as it opened as scheduled on May 25, 2017.

The first guests entered the park yesterday to experience an authentic South Pacific dedication ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new water park. The ceremony included performances by authentic Maori entertainment, with water dancers and “Haka” war dancers. The ceremony also had the 200-foot-tall Krakatau’s first eruption as the park’s icon.

“Universal’s Volcano Bay sets a new standard on every level – from the attractions to how our guests experience them,” said Tom Williams, the CEO and chairman of Universal Parks and Resorts. “Our new water theme park is the perfect complement to the rest of our incredible destination. It provides our guests with spectacular entertainment experiences and innovative technology that helps them enjoy more of what matters most – connecting with each other and having an amazing time together.”

Volcano Bay is Universal’s third gate at the Universal Orlando Resort, joining Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. The park spans 25 acres and features multiple attractions, including:

  • The Tapu Tapu wearable, included with guest admission, allows guests to virtually wait in line, make purchases in the park, photo Access, locker access, and to enjoy TapTu Play themed experiences in the park
  • Over 30 experiences with 18 attractions, like sandy beaches, multi-river raft rides, the aqua coaster, and a multi-directional wave pool
