Walt Disney World increases annual pass prices ahead of Galaxy’s Edge opening

With Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge being the next big opening on the horizon for Walt Disney World this August, the park has increased the price of annual passes across the board.

Although annual price increases aren’t unusual, these are larger than most have been in the past. There were increases to both the Florida resident and non-Florida resident prices, which you can check out below:

Non-Florida Resident

Parking prices for resort hotels also saw a slight increase:

• Disney Value Resorts
  • Old Price: $13/night
  • New Price: $15/night
• Disney Moderate Resorts
  • Old Price: $19/night
  • New Price: $20/night
• Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts
  • Old Price: $24/night
  • New Price: $25/night

The price for the Theme Park Select Pass for Florida residents remains the same, coming in at $439 each. Parking at the theme parks was also unchanged.

This increase comes right after the announcement of Annual Passholder previews for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World – but only for Platinum, Platinum Plus and Premier passholders. The land is set to open to all guests on Aug. 29 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

For Florida residents, the highest-tier pass, the Platinum Plus, increased in price by nearly 18 percent. A common lower-tier pass for Florida parkgoers, the Silver Pass, increased by about 8 percent.

Disneyland employed a similar increase in prices at the start of this year, also likely to help curb attendance for the grand opening of their version of Galaxy’s Edge. The land officially opened on May 31 and is still in its reservation-only period until next week.
