Say hello to the new Walt Disney World Ambassador Team!

Marilyn West and Stephen Lim will represent Walt Disney World Resort, its cast members and their goals and ideals throughout their two-year term in the position. Attending thousands of cast, community and special events throughout the year, the new Ambassadors will be responsible for honoring the efforts of Disney VoluntEARs and 74,000 cast members.

“Being a member of the Walt Disney World Ambassador team is an extraordinary honor – as well as a tremendous responsibility,” said George A. Kalogridis, president of the Walt Disney World Resort. “It takes very special people to represent America’s largest single-site workplace and, on behalf of all their fellow cast members, I congratulate Marilyn and Stephen on their selection.”

This tradition began in 1964 during the 10th anniversary of the Disneyland Resort, when Walt Disney himself was overwhelmed with requests for media interviews and appearances. He chose the first Disney Ambassador in 1965, and the program has evolved into what it is today.

Together, West and Lim will represent the resort throughout a vast period of park growth, including the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the opening of several new attractions as Walt Disney World heads ever closer to its 50th anniversary in 2021.

West’s love for the Disney Parks began in childhood, before leading her to an engineering degree from the University of Kentucky. After completing three undergraduate internships at Walt Disney World Resort, West found her permanent home at Worldwide Safety operations for the resort.

Lim grew up in California, just a short drive away from Disneyland. It wasn’t long before he packed his bags and moved to Florida to continue his Disney journey, where he currently works as a front desk service advisor at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. He also facilitates Traditions classes, which welcome new cast members into the company.

Lim and West were chosen from hundreds of candidates after a two-month long expansive search. The two were surprised with a special ceremony at Disney’s Contemporary Resort with the news of their new roles. After a three-month training period, the new team will start their two-year term, running January 2019 through December 2020.
