WinterFest is back at Carowinds starting Nov. 18.

The event will transform the park into a winter wonderland with over 5 million holiday lights, a 70-foot Christmas tree and festive decorations on display throughout the park.

Activities during the event will include a nightly tree lighting, live holiday shows, and strolling performers, ice skating, family rides, a special holiday menu, and even falling snow.

New for this year, Carowinds will introduce New Year’s Eve at WinterFest, a family-friendly celebration that kicks off at 10 p.m. The event will feature live bands, Snoopy’s Rockin’ New Years Eve Party, fireworks at midnight and more. This offering is included with WinterFest admission or a Gold Season Pass.

Two new themed areas will also make their WinterFest debut this year: the 50s-inspired Tinsel Town and the whimsical North Pole Excursion. Also new for this year, Saturday hours for the event have been extended to 2-10 p.m.

During WinterFest, children can take time to write a letter to Santa at the North Pole Post Office, snap a photo with Santa at St. Nick’s Pics, decorate cookies with Mrs. Claus, create take-home keepsakes at Sally Brown’s Christmas Crafts, and see a live Nativity and petting zoo. Jack Frost, Ice Princess, Sugar Plum Fairy, the Peanuts gang and other holiday characters will be out and about for meet-and-greets.

Live entertainment will include Cool Yule, Jingle Jazz and the Miseltones, Tinker’s Toy Factory and Charlie Brown’s Christmas Spectacular.

Shoppers looking for that great holiday gift can check out crafts by local artisans at Artisan Alley, or browse shops like Santa’s Stocking Stuffers, J. Frost’s Ugly Christmas Sweaters, the North Pole Mercantile, Sugar Plum Sweets and more.
