Your Favorite Halloween Horror Nights Orlando Scare Zones – Theme Park Best

Each week, we ask you, our readers, to vote for your favorite food, ride, land, or activity at theme parks around the world. This week, we’re at Universal Studios Florida for your favorite Halloween Horror Night Scare Zone. Now there are only five scare zones this year, so this is a ranking, instead of our usual Top 5.

5. The Harvest

This zone may not have scored high on the list, but that does not mean it is not a great area to explore. The Harvest is located in between Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem and Shrek 4-D. Halloween Horror Nights usually uses the scare zone in this area as a sort of table of contents. Guests can see the haunted houses listed here, and usually can see a character or two that they will see in those accompanying houses.

Writer’s Review: “Since this area usually focuses on the multiple themes of the thrills offered at Halloween Horror Nights, it lacks extreme detail on a central theme. That being said, this is usually the first and last thing people see when they go to Halloween Horror Nights. The scareactors do an excellent job making use of the straight path they have, and I am always a fan of the stilt walkers.”

4. Twisted Tradition

Twisted Tradition is located in the Central Park area of Universal Studios Florida. Huge glowing stilt walker scareactors dominate the space as they appear as decaying combinations of human and pumpkin. Scareactors on the ground prove that the tight walkway is a prime area for quick jump scares. The trees are scattered with pumpkins as well, as the theme of Halloween and horror invades this space.

Writer’s Review: “Every year, the scare zone in the Central Park area is gorgeous. The heavy use of fog, texture lighting, and glowing pumpkins makes for another big hit for Halloween Horror Nights 28. The glowing stilt walkers are one of my favorite scareactor designs to date.”

3. Revenge of Chucky

Revenge of Chucky is located on Hollywood Boulevard. Chucky, the world’s deadliest doll, has brought a toy fair to gruesome life on the streets of Hollywood, twisting childhood toys into nightmares. Oversized dolls, corrupted toys, and a spiteful Chucky await. Guests can even walk up to a stage to be insulted by Chucky himself.

Writer’s Review: “Revenge of Chucky is one of the largest scare zones at Halloween Horror Nights. This allows for numerous stage areas, as well as a wide assortment of scareactors. Don’t think you are safe just because the street is wide. These scareactors are constantly roaming, ready to pounce on any unsuspecting guests.”

Vamp 85: New Year’s Eve

Get ready to count down the New Year, 80’s style! Vamp 85 is located in the New York section of the park, and the scareactors use the entire street to tell their highly themed and frightening story. From vampires to news reporters, and even musical performances, this area offers a wide array of things to experience. The 80’s theme is very accurate throughout the entire area, including the background music and costumes of the scareactors.

A fan favorite area of the zone is its “Bryan Frank and the Superchargers” memorial on one of the stages. Bryan was part of the Universal Creative team, and was a helping hand in creating attractions like Skull Island: Reign of Kong and Fast and Furious: Supercharged, as well as parts of the Wizarding World. He passed away suddenly this summer, so friends and fans came together to support his family with a Go Fund Me page.

Writer’s Review: “I was a huge fan of Vamp 55 a few years back, so it was great to hear of the scare zone’s next iteration. This area holds up just as well as its predecessor, with extreme attention to detail. With such an incredibly large area to use, it is sometimes hard to keep up a theme or sense of fear. The scareactors have taken this challenge head on and use the entirety of the space to haunt you down the street.”

1. Killer Klowns from Outer Space

The undisputed winner of the scare zones, Killer Klowns from Outer Space. This smaller scare zone is located next to Starbucks and Transformers: The Ride 3D. This intellectual property came out of no where for most Halloween Horror Nights fans. A cult classic, Killer Klowns from Outer Space has an extremely dedicated following that has surely grown since this year’s event. With screen accurate scareactors, a background track taken directly from the film and dedicated fans, this area is always full of wacky moments.

Writer’s Review: “I had never heard of Killer Klowns prior to Halloween Horror Nights, and this scare zone is yet another reason to fall in love with this yearly event. Halloween Horror Nights has introduced me to so many films and stories I may have never experienced without them being introduced in this way. This scare zone is small, but it takes a top spot in this year’s must-do’s.”
