Disney Springs restaurants offer plantable drink coasters for Earth Month
Patina Restaurant Group restaurants at Disney Springs are participating in a “Seeds for Sustainability” campaign offering eco-friendly plantable drink coasters embedded with wildflower seeds for guests to take home for Earth Month.
The plantable drink coasters celebrate Earth Day (April 22, 2022), Arbor Day (April 29, 2022), and National Park Week (April 16-24, 2022) and will replace disposable cardboard coasters during April at Morimoto Asia, The Edison, Maria and Enzo’s, Enzo’s Hideaway, and Pizza Ponte.
The coasters are part of Patina’s parent company Delaware North’s 2022 Earth Month campaign, “Seeds for Sustainability” (a partnership with Sierra Nevada and Impossible Burger). They are embedded with pollinator wildflowers native to North America – like Black-Eyed Susan, Corn Poppy, Spurred Snapdragon, Sweet Alyssum, English Daisy, and Catchfly – which attract bees and other insects that collect and distribute pollen necessary for many plants to grow, including fruits and vegetables.
“Delaware North’s GreenPath program helps ensure the company carefully manages its environmental impact and positively contributes to the communities we serve,” said Deb Friedel, Delaware North’s director of sustainability. “These coasters were specifically sourced with pollinator seeds to support the ecosystem: One out of every three bites of food exists because of the efforts of pollinators.”
The Earth Day promotion will be available across Delaware North’s Parks divisions – including Patina Restaurant Group locations at Downtown Disney in Anaheim and Disney Springs in Orlando – with more than 32,000 disposable coasters replaced with eco-friendly plantable seed coasters, resulting in up to 10 million wildflower seeds being planted.
