Steakhouse 71 revealed, more foodie news shared from Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has shared quite a bit of exciting news for all the Disney foodies out there — from the reopening of three popular buffets and the addition of seven more global marketplaces at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, to a sneak peek at Steakhouse 71 coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Boma – Flavors of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge reopened today, Aug. 20, with all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast and dinner. All your favorites are back, incluidng creamy pap, turkey bobotie, pancakes, waffles, deviled eggs with salmon, and freshly-baked items from the Boma bakery.

At dinner, the rotisserie area will serve up pork ribs, salmon, African-spiced strip loin, Durban rotisserie chicken, and lamb bobotie. The kid’s station will have pasta and meatballs, mac n’ cheese, and chicken bites. The rotating selection of soups, stews and chowders has also returned, as well as salads like berbere chickpea salad and North American cauliflower salad. As for the question that’s on everyone’s minds… yes, Zebra Domes are back!


Starting Aug. 29, Biergarten Restaurant in the Germany pavilion at Epcot will offer a buffet experience for lunch and dinner. Dishes like pretzel rolls, bratwurst, spätzle, schnitzel, and a variety of desserts, including apple strudel and black forest rolls, are on the menu.

Starting Sept. 12, The Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom will open its buffet for lunch and dinner. Guests will be able to feast on Parker House rolls, create-your-own fresh garden salads, seared pork tenderloin, fire-roasted prime rib, braised beef short ribs, and more.

Guests can now enjoy Nine Dragons Restaurant in the China pavilion at Epcot for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, with offerings like the House Hot & Sour Soup, Kung Pao Duo, Spicy Honey Crispy Chicken, and Kowloon Spare Ribs.

Starting Aug. 27, guests can begin their day the royal way as breakfast returns to Cinderella’s Royal Table. Reservations will be available starting Aug. 24.

Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will reopen on Aug. 29 with new entrées to try:

  • Spiced Potato Hand Pies – Vegetables and potatoes wrapped in pastry served with harissa aïoli and coriander chutney
  • Marinated Chicken Flatbread Sandwich – Marinated chicken topped with cucumber-tomato salad, tahini sauce, and greens served with house-made chips
  • Red Chili Hot Dog – Spicy hot dog topped with cucumber-tomato salad and harissa aïoli served with house-made chips

Opening Aug. 22, Dockside Diner at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will drop anchor and open with new offerings to enjoy along Echo Lake:

  • Shrimp Salad Roll – Shrimp, arugula, tomatoes, pickled shaved fennel, and sliced radish tossed with rémoulade sauce on a brioche butter bun served with seasoned house-made chips
  • Chipotle Chicken Salad Roll – Roasted pulled chicken salad with red onions, celery, tomatoes, and watercress tossed with chipotle aïoli and topped with fried onions on a brioche butter bun served with seasoned house-made chips
  • Smoked Fish Dip served with seasoned house-made chips, celery, carrots, jalapeños, and pickles
  • Seaside Brownie – Chocolate brownie topped with white chocolate ganache and seaside garnish
  • Blue Sea Margarita – Tequila, blue Curaçao, and sweet-and-sour

And fans of Epcot Food & Wine will be happy to know that seven additional global marketplaces will be opening early on Aug. 15.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, new experiences are being cooked up at Disney’s Contemporary Resort! Located just off the lobby of the resort, Steakhouse 71 will be a new casual-themed dining location, and will be open in time for the celebration starting Oct. 1.

In addition, upstairs at California Grill, a new dining experience will also be available later in the year featuring a limited-time menu with items inspired by the restaurant’s history.
