Universal's new coaster delayed until summer
From the way it has been looking compared to SeaWorld’s new Manta coaster, you could tell Universal wasn’t as far along. Now word has come that the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster won’t be opening for another few months.
From tampabay.com:
Universal Studios Florida has stalled the opening of its Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit a few months until the summer for what is shaping up as a coaster war with Manta, Florida’s first “flying coaster” that opens May 22 at SeaWorld.
Universal was mum about the exact reasons for the delay …

They had to rebuild the launch tower due to it being a hazard of some sort. That sucks.
Jose, you are with Walt Disney World News Today!
We’ll wait until our fall trip to use our free Super Bowl tickets then! Thanks for the heads up.
Man, I’m getting hosed for my vacation at WDW in late May. No Space Mountain, no TTA, and now no new coaster at Universal. 🙁
considering this is practically a prototype for maurer sohne… its understandable they had to take some time to work on the coaster and lift… and it’s brand new emergency systems…
they have begun installing the electrical conduits for the lift apparently…
