Welcome to our accessibility guide to Halloween Horror Nights, including tips for AAPs, quiet zones, and return time tables at Universal Studios Florida.

There’s been a lot of debate online recently on if somebody who needs specific accommodations should even attend Halloween Horror Nights due to its subject matter and overstimulating nature. I’m sure you or a loved one might be like me: somebody who needs accessibility accommodations and also loves Halloween Horror Nights. Both things can be true! I’ve put together a guide to make sure that your next visit into the fog is the smoothest, most comfortable experience possible.
AAP distribution at Halloween Horror Nights
While we won’t go over all the steps on how to receive an AAP (Attractions Assistance Pass), you can find all the information you need under the Universal Orlando Resort website’s Accessibility Information tab. To pick up your Attraction Assistance Pass, you can head to Guest Services outside the park entrance or inside the park to the right after you scan in. New for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights is a distribution center inside of “The Bourne Stuntacular” queue. This new location lightens up some of the lines for guests looking to pick up their accommodations.

Return-time tables
If you are familiar with the Attraction Assistance Pass (AAP) Universal Orlando offers, you know it’s used by guests to receive a return time to enter an attraction as an alternative of standing in line. If you are not familiar with this process, please let me stress this is NOT an Express Pass or a way to skip the line. You still wait the quoted time, just outside of the queue.
Usually, you have to walk up to the entrance to an attraction, or in this case a haunted house portal. This year however, there are four tables across the park for easier access to receiving return times for any house in the park. This is a very thoughtful addition, as a majority of the entrances to the haunted houses this year are very out of the way due to construction on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit’s replacement. The team members at any of these tables are more than happy to give you a return time for any haunted house in the park, saving you the walk back and forth.
AAP tables locations during Halloween Horror Nights:
- by the entrances to the “Fallout” and “Gálkn: Monsters of the North” haunted houses
- outside of Villain-Con Minion Blast next to Bake My Day under the Illumination sign
- between the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” and “The Horrors of The Wyatt Sicks” haunted houses
- between the “Nightmare Fuel” stage and Men in Black: Alien Attack entrance (Not pictured)

Quiet zones at Halloween Horror Nights
Sometimes, you need a break from the loud noises and flashing lights. Unfortunately, a lot of the quiet zones from years prior are no longer available. Thankfully Universal Studios Florida does offer quiet rooms in the front of the park if you need to decompress. I have found some chill areas aside from that, and I would love to share them with you! I’ve found the area near the entrance to E.T. Adventure and DreamWorks Land is dark and quiet, aside from some noise from the “The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane” scare zone in the distance.

You can easily find solace in restaurants across the park such as Richter’s Burger Company and its outdoor seating to the sides and behind the quick-service location. Do keep in mind that the outdoor seating is on the water where the “Haunt-O-Phonic: A Ghoulish Journey” lagoon show plays, which is quite loud and filled with bright lights.

Some of my favorite locations to chill include Minion Café in Minion Land and Fast Food Boulevard in Springfield. Both are complete tonal shifts from Halloween Horror Nights, but since Springfield has seen the return of chainsaw hoards this year, it gets quite loud when seeking shelter from the same loud noises you’re trying to avoid.

My go to location this year has been Delancey Street in the New York section of the park, located in between the “Mutations: Toxic Twenties” scare zone and Transformers: The Ride 3-D. This pathway has some light warm lighting and plenty of stairs and curb space to rest upon. The only scare actor who enters this area is Art the Clown who roams the park. Thankfully, he is pretty friendly despite the depiction of him in his grotesque film franchise. There’s usually hoards of people trying to film him, so if you stay out of his way, you’ll more than likely be okay! Around New York there’s some dark empty alleyways that are amazing to hide in, so it’s worth exploring to find these if you really need to decompress.
You’ve got this 🙂
I know Halloween Horror Nights can be very daunting, even for those who love it. I promise you, if you prioritize your wellbeing and don’t push yourself too hard, you are going to have an amazing time. Universal Orlando Resort has these accommodations in place for a reason. They are incredibly kind and understanding! Universal won’t invalidate your needs, unlike another major theme park down the street…
Have the best time! If you have any questions about accessibility at Halloween Horror Nights, please leave them in the comments and I will help the best I can!
