ANNOUNCED: Fortnite “Fortnitemares” scare zone for Halloween Horror Nights 35
Halloween Horror Nights has revealed another scare zone for its 35th anniversary event, and for the first time in the event’s history, guests will step inside the gamer world of “Fortnite.”
Inspired by Epic Games’ annual Halloween event in Fortnite, the scare zone invites guests to “trudge through this scare zone and brace for the Storm, because there’s no telling what horrors it’ll bring with it.”
Guests will enter Freaky Fields, a Halloween-inspired battleground overtaken by a mysterious force. Along the way, they’ll encounter the iconic Battle Bus, recognizable Fortnitemares characters and new original creations exclusive to Halloween Horror Nights as they attempt to escape the haunted battlefield.

First Fortnitemares
Fortnitemares marks the first time Fortnite has been featured at Halloween Horror Nights, bringing one of the world’s most popular video games to the event as a scare zone. Fortnitemares is Fortnite’s annual Halloween event, transforming the popular online game with horror-themed characters, monsters, haunted locations and limited-time seasonal experiences.
Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs on select nights from Aug. 28 through Nov. 1 at Universal Studios Florida. Fortnitemares joins this year’s lineup of scare zones as Universal continues unveiling new experiences for the event.
Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) is a separately ticketed event at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood featuring haunted houses, scare zones, and live entertainment. This announcement for “Fortnite” adds to the growing lineup of experiences coming to Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 35th year, and Universal Studios Hollywood too!
The announcement has already sparked debate among Halloween Horror Nights fans. While some are excited to see one of gaming’s biggest franchises join the event, others have questioned whether Fortnite’s cartoon-inspired style belongs at HHN. Supporters counter that the annual Fortnitemares event embraces horror with monsters, zombies and supernatural themes, making it a more natural fit than many critics assume.
Interesting note: Matt Selman of “The Simpsons” stopped short of confirming anything, but his latest comments about Universal have fans dreaming of Treehouse of Horror at HHN. Together, the two properties have sparked debate among longtime fans, with some questioning whether HHN is moving away from traditional horror franchises in favor of broader pop culture brands.
