Happy Back to the Future Day! New toys, comics, clothing and more on the way

Universal is traveling back in time to celebrate 35 years of the iconic film franchise “Back to the Future,” starting today on the fan-created anniversary date from the film when Marty McFly travels back to the future: Oct. 21, 2015.

Over the next year, fans will be treated to new merchandise inspired by the franchise across a variety of categories, theatrical re-releases, anniversary celebrations, digital content and more.

Playmobil has created a collection featuring characters and vehicles from the film, including Marty McFly, Dr. Emmett Brown, the DeLorean Time Machine and more, all set to arrive in stores in May 2020. Funko Pop figures, a new themed board game from Ravensburger, collectible movie prints from Classic Stills, plus other surprises from Hasbro, Mattel, 3D Retro Collectibles and more will debut this summer.

New novelty reading materials from Running Press and Insight Editions will also be on the way, as well as a new comic series from IDW Publishing. Fans can already get their hands on favorites like “Back to the Future: DeLorean Time Machine – Owner’s Workshop Manual,” “Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History,” “William Shakespeare’s Get Thee Back to the Future,” “Back to the Future: The Classic Illustrated Storybook,” and more.

Fans will be able to get their Back to the Future style on with a new lifestyle collection of apparel and accessories from brands like Criminal Damage, BoxLunch, Dumbgood, Haus of JR, Hot Topic, Just Hype, Primark, Suavecito, Super7, Zara and more. For Halloween and beyond, Rubies and FUN.com will offer costumes inspired by the film.

Keep on the lookout for theatrical events and the debut of the “Back to the Future” trilogy in 4K from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, as well as a celebration on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) in 2020. The anniversary will also be commemorated by Universal Parks & Resorts.
