Celebrate the release of “Captain Marvel” with this fundraising event at Gods & Monsters.

Some of the many themes of Marvel Studios’ latest feature are strength, empowerment, and the motto: “Higher, Further, Faster.” The focus of this special fundraising event is “Further,” and Gods & Monsters’ goal is to empower women, support one another, and further each other’s goals.

From 5 p.m. – 1 a.m. on March 2, the comic shop will offer a 10 percent off sale on all Marvel comics, books, and merchandise throughout the store; active VIPs will get 15 percent off. Ten percent of those sales will then be donated to the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC).

Gods & Monsters will also have donation boxes set up to collect supplies for Harbor House Orlando, a local shelter for women, their children and pets escaping domestic violence. From 5-9 p.m., a representative from Marvel will be at the event to give out “Captain Marvel” movie premiere passes and swag for everyone who brings in a donation. You can learn about what donated items Harbor House is looking for here.

Guests who come to the event dressed as their favorite superhero will receive “Captain Marvel” passes or movie swag, along with 10 percent off of any purchase in the store or in the bar, Vault 5421. Guests can also bring in their pets in a superhero costume for the same prizes.

For artists looking for tips on drawing female heroes, DC Comics and Warner Bros. artist Kevin Wood will be on-hand to do live demos and answer questions from fans.

Grown-up heroes can check out Gods & Monsters’ post-apocalyptic-themed bar, Vault 5421. The bar will offer “Captain Marvel” drink specials and partial proceeds will go to the NWLC. Marvel movies will be playing on the bar’s big screens, and 90s music will be pumped through the speakers all night long. On the entertainment front, guests can enjoy cosplay cage dancing and fire dancing.

Plus, every drink purchase made after 8 p.m. will get the buyer a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $2 per ticket, or 6 for $10. All proceeds from the raffle will go to the NWLC.

The store portion of this fundraiser event is open to all ages, but Vault 5421 is for guests ages 18 and older. Guests must be 21 or older with valid ID to purchase alcoholic beverages.
