Camp Snoopy expansion in 2025 at Carowinds
Camp Snoopy — an area devoted to family-friendly rides themed to the Peanuts gang at a summer camp — will expand at Carowinds in 2025 with a new roller coaster called Snoopy’s Racing Railway and a new water raft ride called Charlie Brown’s River Raft Blast.
Snoopy’s Racing Railway
Onboard the new Snoopy’s Racing Railway roller coaster, “Guests can join Snoopy as he races to deliver root beer and pizza to Camp Snoopy’s Mess Hall, where Woodstock and his yellow bird buddies are causing quite a ruckus,” Courtney C. McGarry Webber, director of communications at Carowinds, said.

Snoopy’s Racing Railway is a launch coaster manufactured by Art Engineering that reaches speeds of up to 31 mph and circles around its track twice. The coaster will have a height requirement of 36 inches. It will be Carowinds’ first new coaster since the opening of Copperhead Strike in 2019.
A version of Snoopy’s Racing Railway opened at Canada’s Wonderland in 2023.
Charlie Brown’s River Raft Blast
The new Charlie Brown’s River Raft Blast boat ride, manufactured by Mack Rides, will feature ride vehicles carrying eight guests.
“Equipped with on-board and onshore water cannons,” Webber said, “riders can engage in friendly water skirmishes with other boats, spraying each other as they navigate the river channel.”

This attraction appears similar to Fyre Drill, currently under construction for How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, and likewise opening in 2025.
On top of the new rides, the updates Camp Snoopy will debut water play areas for kids and an indoor character greeting location with the Peanuts.
Carowinds’ new additions for 2025 follow several consecutive post-pandemic years of diverse experiences. In 2024, Carowinds debuted a summer music festival, the first time its abandoned amphitheater has been open in quite some time. In 2023, the park opened Aeronautica Landing, a flight-themed land with five new rides, refurbished bumper cars, and a new bar.
2025 Carowinds updates follow in the footsteps of Nickelodeon and Hanna-Barbera
The area of Carowinds currently occupied by Camp Snoopy carries a storied legacy of beloved, family-friendly characters and attractions. It was once the stomping grounds of Hanna-Barbera properties like “Yogi Bear” and “The Flintstones.” Later, it became Nickelodeon Central, home to rides based on “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Dora the Explorer,” and other Nicktoons.

The area was minted as the Peanuts’ digs in 2010, when the area was dubbed Planet Snoopy. It transitioned into Camp Snoopy in 2018, and now will be expanded for Carowinds’ 2025 season.

With each successive rebrand, Carowinds installed new rides and updated existing rides to match the theme. For example, the wooden roller coaster now called Woodstock Express was formerly known as the Scooby-Doo Ghoster Coaster and later was called the Fairly OddCoaster before earning its current monicker.

Incidentally, a “Camp Snoopy” streaming series debuted on Apple TV+ in summer 2024.
After discovering their troop is in danger of disbanding, Snoopy and the Beagle Scouts set off to the great outdoors to earn their badges. Meanwhile, Charlie Brown and friends enjoy their summer at Camp Spring Lake.

Camp Snoopy in other theme parks
In addition to Carowinds’ existing Camp Snoopy and 2025 updates, Camp Snoopy exists in other Six Flags-owned parks (formerly Cedar Fair parks prior to the recent merge of both companies). In summer 2024, two Camp Snoopy locations debuted new roller coasters: Kings Island in Mason, Ohio opened Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers, while Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif. welcomed Snoopy’s Tenderpaw Twister Coaster.
