Cedar Point commemorates 150 years with Ticket of a Lifetime

Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio commemorates its standing as the Midwest’s premier amusement park with a sesquicentennial celebration featuring a brand-new nighttime parade and party, family river adventure ride, specialty food and merchandise, and the coveted Ticket of a Lifetime.

Over the course of 51 days, starting June 26, Cedar Point is throwing a party worthy of 150 years of seaside summer fun, from its humble beginnings as a beach and bath house in 1870 to its standing as one of the world’s greatest thrill-seeker parks, home to 72 exciting rides, including 18 world-class roller coasters.

On the heels of the park’s grand reopening Frontier Festival in May, the festivities honoring their anniversary kick off with 6 event-specific additions:

Snake River Expedition: Join a smuggling expedition onboard this Trapper Dan riverboat cruise around Adventure Island. Help solve secret tasks while encountering surprises and hidden “dangers” at every turn, as live characters, animated scenes, and special effects make for an immersive, family friendly journey. Watch for nods to past Cedar Point attractions, such as the Western Cruise and Paddlewheel Excursions rides.

Celebrate 150 Spectacular: Twelve illuminated floats honoring the park’s iconic moments, innovations, and turning points take to the park’s pathways in a multi-sensory parade featuring more than 100 performers, from acrobatic beach bathers to dancing hotel associates, all set to an original musical backdrop.

A massive street party awaits at the end of the parade, as Celebration Plaza becomes the epicenter of dancing, pyrotechnics, and high-energy music. The parade begins at 8:45 p.m. nightly.

Cedar Point Legacy Walk: Leave a lasting legacy with the purchase of a tribute brick inscribed with your name and chosen details. Bricks will be installed in the center of the park’s Main Midway, and must be purchased by Sept. 6, 2021.

Taste of the Point: Take a tasting tour around the park, sampling unique twists on Cedar Point’s most famous fare. Indulge in long-time fan-favorite Cheese on a Stick, made with pepper jack cheese and raspberry jam; experience fresh-cut fries, now served with cilantro, lime, and queso; or satisfy your funnel cake craving as this iconic treat transforms into hot chicken sandwiches.

The event sees the return of fruit-shaped drinking vessels from the park’s past, while modern sensibilities will appreciate all-new vegan and vegetarian dishes. Sampling from a selection of 15 specialty items is easy with the purchase of a Taste of the Point tasting card.

Commemorative Collectibles: Visit Celebration Central, located in the Pagoda Gift Shop, to purchase an event-themed souvenir at the end of the day. This is also the place to pick up a free celebration button displaying the year each guest started their own traditions at Cedar Point.

For added fun, visit The Button Shop to purchase buttons you can trade with other park fans. The collection includes buttons featuring current and former attractions, famous park locations, and nods to the park’s history.

Ticket of a Lifetime: The biggest thrill for park-goers may be the Ticket of a Lifetime, an exclusive admission pass that awards randomly selected winners (plus three of their guests) free admission into Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores water park — for life!

Several passes have already been awarded via online contests and the park’s Everyday Heroes series, but during the celebration guests who register while in the park will have five chances to win, simply by scanning their mobile device at each Courtesy Corps information desk.

Those who enter the contest will also have the chance to be instantly upgraded to a CP150 VIP Experience, including one-time Fast Lane passes, plus access to three VIP lounges and the VIP Party Desk presented by Platform Beer Co, where they will enjoy exclusive viewing of the nighttime parade.

Ticket of a Lifetime winners will be announced through a limited-time CP150 app each evening, before the Celebrate 150 Spectacular parade. No purchase is necessary to enter, ages 13 and up only.
