Central Florida Community Arts to perform Disney concert with 100 years of music

Everyone has their favorite tune from the expansive Disney songbook. Singers and musicians from Central Florida Community Arts (CFCArts) will perform iconic melodies of Disney’s first 100 years in a special concert this May.

The nonprofit CFCArts will host the event, officially titled “Once Upon A Dream: 100 Years of Musical Magic.” The organization promises a program of both old and new Disney music, stretching back to the 1920s and continuing into modern favorites.

Imagery in the event’s poster artwork suggests the CFCArts Disney concert will include songs from “Bambi,” “The Lion King,” “Frozen,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Tangled,” and more. CFCArts also teased that the audience can expect songs from Disney theme parks as well.

“A Collective Celebration of Members’ Dreams and Memories”

CFCArts Community Choir is comprised of 300 performers, including 60 new choir members this season. Many are past or current Disney Cast Members, which makes this show hit particularly close to home.

“This isn’t a standard choir concert, but rather a fully produced, multimedia, theatrical experience that features the CFCArts choir and orchestra,” said Brandon Fender, CFCArts choir director and founding member.

Fender, a current Disney Cast Member leader, also described the show as “a way to remember and cherish our past experiences while using those moments to propel us to new dreams or recommit to ones we have tucked away or given up on.”

“No matter what someone is experiencing in their life, we believe there is a Disney song that can lift their spirits,” added Justin Muchoney, CFCArts vice president of creative and production, whose former 12-year Disney career included a spokesperson role during the parks’ 2006-2008 celebration, The Year of a Million Dreams.

“Once Upon A Dream” isn’t the organization’s first Disney tribute. CFCArts Symphonic Orchestra previously performed a 2021 concert to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.
