Universal Orlando has revealed the characters that runners will encounter during the resort’s inaugural Running Universal Epic Character Race weekend in 2020.
The first-ever Epic Character 5K and 10K races will take place on Feb. 1-2, 2020, with participants ages 5 and up having the chance to run surrounded by some of their favorite characters.
These character encounters include:
- Minions from Illumination’s “Despicable Me” and “Minions” franchises
- Blue the velociraptor from the “Jurassic World” franchise alongside her Raptor Expert
- Shrek and friends from the DreamWorks animated films
- Autobots and Decepticons from “Transformers”
- And more!
Many of these characters will be available along the race path for fun photo-ops if runners feel the urge to take a quick pit-stop. The race will travel through both Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. A full course map will be available soon.
Registration is now open for Running Universal’s Epic Character Race weekend, with pricing starting at $82 per person, plus tax.
Runners can choose from multiple options, including 5K or 10K registration, VIP upgrades (including a special character meet-and-greet and post-race breakfast), and weekend package options available exclusively for race participants. Runners can also save on admission to Universal Orlando’s theme parks.
