Visit Orlando, the official sales and marketing organization for the Orlando area, has teamed up with the social networking site, Gowalla, to provide consumers the chance to experience Orlando from the comforts of their hometown.
Running through April 10, consumers in Austin, Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. can work with custom Gowalla Trips to collect an Orlando-themed pin and be registered for a chance to win a real Orlando vacation.
Here’s how it works: Choose one of three Orlando-themed “trips” (Orlando Attractions, Orlando Entertainment, and Unexpected Orlando), each featuring 20 possible check-in spots in your hometown. The Gowalla Passport Holder needs to check in at five of the possible spots for your chosen “trip,” at which point your trip is complete and you’ll receive an Orlando Makes Me Smile Stamp, as well as an entry in to the Orlando vacation giveaway. You can participate in all three “trips,” and can also complete the “trips” in any of the other participating cities, as well, to improve your chances of winning.
The “trips” feature more than 100 attractions with activities for every age and interest, including check-ins at iconic attractions like New York City’s Central Park and Chicago’s Wrigley Field, top eateries and nightclubs, and local gardens and museums.
Visit Orlando will also randomly give away secondary prizes, including tickets to the theme parks – Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld Orlando. To participate, consumers are encouraged to join Gowalla on the web or via their smartphones, and select the “Trips” tab on the Gowalla mobile application.
