Cinderella Castle classic paint scheme returning to Magic Kingdom
Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom will be restored to its classic color scheme of white and blue.

Imagineers announced the news at Destination D23, Disney’s official convention, on Aug. 31, 2025. We were in the room for the reveal, and the news received what sounded like the biggest cheer from the crowd of the entire weekend. (Check out our separate coverage for all the theme park news revealed at D23.) Disney did not specify a timeframe for the paint job.
Several years ago, Disney painted the castle shades of gold and pink in preparation for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. Prior to that, the castle had been blue and white since Magic Kingdom’s opening in 1971 (save for a few special occasions over the years, such as the infamous “castle cake” of 1996).
Disney shared this concept art of the new, old look:

As a refresher, here are some photos from previous years of Cinderella Castle’s classic design.

And in contrast, here’s what Cinderella Castle currently looks like in its pinker and golder hues. There’s still some royal blue, but it’s less pronounced than it formerly was, especially at certain times of the day.

The current paint scheme originally had 50th-anniversary pendants and trimmings. Upon the conclusion of the anniversary celebration, those were removed, but the paint scheme remained.
