Late last night, Imagineers at Walt Disney World installed the centerpiece of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride. The tiara-topped water tower is now visible as construction continues on the reimagined attraction at Magic Kingdom Park in Orlando, Fla.
The ride formerly known as Splash Mountain closed at Walt Disney World in January 2023 and at Disneyland in May 2023. The closure paved the way for the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction, which will open in 2024 at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
Walt Disney World Ambassadors Ali Manion and Raevon Redding shared an early-morning first look at the stunning centerpiece for this brand-new with their fellow Cast Members.
Story Details for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Last year, Attractions Magazine reported on the story details Imagineers were working on to bring new life to “Princess and the Frog-” themed attraction. Characters from the movie will be represented throughout the ride as Princess Tiana and Louis the alligator host a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans.
“Walt Disney Imagineering is creating an original, next chapter story for Tiana,” wrote WDI’s Kevin Rafferty, Jr. in the Disney Parks Blog. “Within the attraction queue, guests will discover that she continues to grow her business with Tiana’s Foods – an employee-owned cooperative. Combining her talents with those of the local community, Tiana has transformed an aging salt mine and built a beloved brand.”
When Will the Ride Open?
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride will open in 2024 at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Guests can expect a specific opening date announcement later this year or early in 2024. The ride path and drops from Splash Mountain will be the same on the new attraction.
We’ll be keeping an eye on Anaheim for Disneyland’s tiara-topped water tower to appear, and Attractions will have the most updated information on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on both coasts as construction continues.
