Contactless security screening expanded at Disney Springs

Disney has expanded the contactless security screening at Disney Springs, and it appears that all guests will now have to go through a checkpoint before entering the shopping destination.

For now, these scanners are located at both Lime and Orange Garages and West Side surface parking, though we expect them to roll out later if all goes well. Security cast members will help guide guests through the expanded screening process. Guests still have to do a temperature check before reaching the security checkpoint.

Other than the test back in June of this year, this is the first time that guests have had to go through security to enter the shopping and dining destination at Walt Disney World. The same contactless scanners by Evolv Technology that were used for the test are being utilized now.

Disney recommends that guests limit the number of personal items and bags they bring to Disney Springs in order to expedite the security check process.

It is unclear if this is just another test or if the scanners are a permanent addition to Disney Springs. We’ll keep you updated if there are any changes or announcements from Disney.

    1. Sad yes but unfortunately a necessity in today’s society
If you’ve kept up with the scary news lately you’ll see that Disney has had a few recent incidents where hand guns have almost made it into the parks ( thank you vigilant Disney security for not allowing this to happen)
So unfortunately Disney has had to take this step to increase security at the Springs which up until now had no layer of security
Besides Universal is already doing this for both their parks and City Walk
