Halloween in Darkmoor at Epic Universe? There’s ‘potential,’ Dark Universe exec producer says
Dark Universe inside Epic Universe may be host to future Halloween festivities, though Universal hasn’t announced any for 2025.
Universal Classic Monsters are the focus of Dark Universe, one of the five worlds inside the new Universal Epic Universe theme park, which opened in May in Orlando, Fla. The narrative of Dark Universe unspools in the fictional setting of Darkmoor Village.
The macabre nature of Dark Universe’s architecture and storyline seem to lend itself well to spooky season. When we interviewed Chris Frisella, executive producer of Dark Universe, as part of our 64-page Epic Universe souvenir magazine, we asked him if guests should expect any sort of seasonal festivities in Darkmoor. Here’s what he said:
One can only imagine the unique traditions held by the citizens of Darkmoor. I’m sure they have seasonal celebrations entirely their own, quite different from our familiar holidays. However, the very atmosphere of this new world, especially under a moonlit night in the ravaged village, does indeed seem the perfect setting for festivals of a distinctly Darkmoor nature. Universal Creative has focused on establishing this immersive environment — a place designed to be family-friendly yet still offer thrilling intensity. The potential for seasonal events would naturally be a consideration for the Universal Orlando Resort team, given their history as masters in horror storytelling.
