Disney continues to demonstrate why they’re a leader in animal care, with the remarkable accomplishments of having three generations of female elephants living together in the AZA-accredited facility.

Corra’s birth can be attributed to Disney’s dedicated endocrinology and animal care teams, who carefully monitored Nadirah’s 22-month pregnancy, from coordinating introductions of Nadirah and dad Mac and observing mating behaviors to monitoring hormonal cycles, culminating in the delivery of the healthy baby elephant.

One of the only AZA-accredited facilities with an onsite endocrinology lab, Disney can precisely predict birthing timelines to welcome a variety of endangered species into the world, including African elephants like Corra, Sumatran tigers, western lowland gorillas, cotton-top tamarins, and okapi.

Guests can see Corra exploring her new surroundings while on the Kilimanjaro Safaris.
