Disneyland Paris introduces upcycled castle tarp merchandise
Disneyland Paris Resort has been celebrating its 30th anniversary with many new experiences, including the complete renovation of Sleeping Beauty Castle – and beginning Sept. 9,. 2022, guests can purchase limited-edition Disneyland Paris upcycled castle tarp merchandise.
Each of the collection’s exclusive pieces is handmade by Bilum – an Ile de France-based company that specializes in upcycling materials to create unique leather goods – from the tarp that covered Sleeping Beauty Castle during it’s renovation and features unique designs that celebrate the beloved fairytale icon.
The collection of Disneyland Paris upcycled castle tarp merchandise is part of the resort’s ongoing commitment to reducing waste, protecting resources, and supporting the local economy, and Bilum founder and director Hélène de La Moureyre notes it is “building the brands’ legacy using their own materials.”
“We are particularly happy to launch this one-of-a-kind collection dedicated to Sleeping Beauty Castle – the icon of our destination – which will allow our fans to take home an authentic piece of magic,” said Disneyland Paris Merchandise & Retail Director Jean-David Marque. “This project is [also] an opportunity for us to collaborate with a local French company that shares Disneyland Paris’ environmental and social values.”
Beginning Sept. 9, 2022, the limited-edition duffel bags, tote bags, briefcases, and pouches manufactured from the printed tarp that covered Sleeping Beauty Castle throughout its renovation will be sold at The Storybook Store on Main Street U.S.A. with prices ranging from about $30 to $140 (while supplies last).
