Dole and Disney have enjoyed a magical partnership since 1986, when Dole created Dole Whip for guests waiting to enter Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland. The delicious dessert has been a favorite sweet treat at the Disney Parks ever since.
From May 29 – June 8, Dole is challenging Dole Whip lovers to create their own version of the iconic theme park snack through the official #DIYDoleWhipRecipe and photo contest. To qualify, Dole Whip creations must be based on Dole’s original vegan, gluten-free, and non-dairy recipe of Dole Pineapple, frozen Dole banana, coconut milk, lime juice, and powdered sugar (Dole DIY Dole Whip recipe), and original photo posts on Dole’s Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter page must include the hashtag #DIYDoleWhip.
To add to the fun, three popular TikTok personalities – Sonny Hurrell (@thatdudecancook), Vivian Aronson (@cookingbomb), and Jason Rockford (@JasonRockford) – will be sharing original Dole Whip creations on their TikTok accounts.
The fan who submits the winning Dole Whip creation based on the original will be awarded the Grand Prize of a Vitamix A2500 Ascent Series Blender (valued at over $600)—not to mention bragging rights at being crowned Dole’s Ultimate Dole Whip Fan. Three additional Dole Whip creators will receive Dole Whip-inspired prize packs.
But that’s not all!
The collaboration between the Dole Food Company and Disney also continues with the Dole Healthy-Living Alliance with Pixar Animation Studios.
The initiative, which began on May 21 and continues through December 2020, is part of Dole’s long-term nutritional alliance with The Walt Disney Company to help make healthy eating and a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables more fun and accessible to busy parents and caregivers.

Inspired by the epic storytelling of Pixar Animation Studios, the initiative celebrates the everyday triumphs of Pixar characters like Woody and Buzz from “Toy Story,” the Parr Family from “The Incredibles,” and Carl Fredricksen from “Up” by encouraging Americans to create their own “healthy-at-home” success stories and offering original kid-friendly character-inspired recipes, digital downloads, fun activities and videos, and nutritional tips from Dole’s health and nutrition communications manager, Melanie Marcus, MA, RD.
The Pixar-themed fun kicked-off in early May when favorite characters from 15 Pixar films magically appeared on millions of Dole bananas and pineapples in U.S. supermarkets, marking the first time Dole has simultaneously featured multiple films from the same studio.
Dole has also introduced two Banana Sticker Peel and Play activity sheets to encourage families to collect the banana stickers that celebrate “Toy Story,” “A Bug’s Life,” “Monsters, Inc.,” “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles,” “Cars,” “Ratatouille,” “WALL•E,” “Up,” “Brave,” “Inside Out,” “The Good Dinosaur,” “Coco,” and the new 2020 releases “Onward” and “Soul.” The free sheets can be downloaded at Dole.com.
This summer, Dole will launch a unique initiative themed to Disney and Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.” that’s designed to take the “scare” out of adding more exotic fruits and vegetables to mealtime; in fall, Disney and Pixar’s “Ratatouille” will be the inspiration for a campaign to prove there can never be too many cooks in the kitchen.
Both initiatives will provide original, character-inspired Dole recipes – including entrees, side dishes, salads, soups, sandwiches, smoothies, and desserts made with fresh fruits and vegetables – along with family-friendly serving suggestions; fun social, digital, and influencer executions; blogger and influencer partnerships; and other surprises.
