DreamWorks Land now open at Universal Studios Florida

DreamWorks Land — with “Shrek,” “Trolls,” and “Kung Fu Panda” attractions — officially opened June 14, 2024 at Universal Studios Florida.

Welcome to DreamWorks Land

After several weeks of previews, all guests can now experience DreamWorks Land at Universal Orlando. Located within the resort’s Universal Studios Florida park and inspired by the filmography of DreamWorks Animation, DreamWorks Land replaces much of the real estate formerly occupied by Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone — and repurposes several of that now-defunct area’s attractions.

Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster (a kiddie coaster) is now Trolls Trollercoaster, complete with a fresh paint job and new props. Take a front-row ride in our video!

Curious George Goes to Town (a play area) is now Po’s Kung-Fu Training Camp, maintaining its signature water bucket but otherwise thematically revamped.

Elsewhere, the in-the-round theater that previously housed “A Day in the Park with Barney” is now home to “DreamWorks Imagination Celebration” and boasts significant technical upgrades for the venue.

In the case of Fievel’s Playland, Universal opted to bulldoze the former “dry water slide” and start from scratch, building Shrek’s Swamp for Little Ogres (a play area) in its place. The new digs are where you’ll find the “fart slide,” which emerges from Shrek’s outhouse and makes noises.

The eatery formerly known as KidZone Pizza Company — the spot famously known for serving pizza fries during Halloween Horror Nights — is now DreamWorks Imagination Café. The walk-up window sells themed items like Ogreoni Pizza, Boss Baby Beignets, Strawberry Softpaws, and “Can’t Stop the Donut!”

Other dining options are new additions rather than replacements. The snack stands Swamp Snacks and Trolls Treats are where you’ll find items like the Shrekzel and BroZone Berry soft serve, respectively, among others.

On the whole, DreamWorks Land emphasizes interactivity. An abundance of small-scale play elements both high-tech and old-school may not qualify as full-fledged attractions, but collectively comprise a land that encourages exploration. For example, an area dubbed Mama Luna’s Feline Fiesta involves screens displaying characters from “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” while Poppy’s Playground features traditional schoolyard fixtures in the style of “Trolls.”

Guests can meet Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona at Shrek’s newly constructed house. To accommodate this new structure, Universal adjusted the entrance pathway into the E.T. Adventure queue and built new signage for that classic attraction.

As part of the changes, E.T. Adventure and the “Animal Actors on Location!” show have been annexed into park’s Hollywood area, having previously belonged to Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone. Both attractions remain in their same physical locations.
