Legoland California Resort’s Duplo Playtown re-opens in new location

Legoland California Resort officially re-opened Duplo Playtown on May 9 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a visit from more than 30 families from the San Diego and Southern California chapters of Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Now located at the top of The Ridge in Fun Town, Duplo Playtown is best enjoyed by kids ages 5 and under and features the new Legoland Express Train, as well as more than ten interactive playhouses – including a barn, hospital, market, and mini-maze.

Older kids and adults can ride one of the three Kid Power Towers in the middle of Playtown, which offer sweeping views of the resort and a fun “free-fall” at the end of the ride.

To celebrate opening day, kids from the local Ronald McDonald House chapters were gifted train conductor hats and commemorative buttons as they boarded the Legoland Express, which for some of the littlest guests was their very first theme park ride. They also enjoyed character meet-and-greets and had exclusive access to explore Duplo Playtown.

“Here at Legoland California Resort, we like to be the first for everything. For many of our young guests, this will be their first time riding our train, climbing Kid Power Towers, and playing with all the interactive playhouses here at the new Duplo Playtown,” said Peter Ronchetti, general manager of Legoland California. “It’s an honor to have families from the Ronald McDonald House enjoy the new area and spend the day creating memories.”
