Emperor has been added to SeaWorld San Diego’s thrill rides, and is the tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster in California. It is also the only floorless dive coaster in the state. Take a look at the ride POV, rider cam and off-ride experience which showcases the movement of this new coaster.
Named after the world’s largest penguin, the new coaster will mimic the species’ underwater diving ability. Climbing to 153 feet in the air, riders will be suspended, feet dangling on a 45-degree angle at the crown of the ride before plunging down a 143-foot face-down vertical drop, accelerating to more than 60 miles per hour.
Riders will also experience inversions, a barrel roll, an Immelmann loop, a hammerhead turn and flat spin as they travel along the nearly 2,500 feet of track. Each of the floorless coaster cars can hold 18 riders in three, six-person rows — the first seating configuration of this kind in North America.
SeaWorld San Diego is also the only place in North America where guests can see Emperor penguins. The Penguin Encounter indoor exhibit allows guests to get up and personal with these creatures.
You can visit SeaWorld San Diego for $59.99. This limited time ticket offer celebrates the Emperor roller coaster opening. Will you face the speed, drop and flips of this new dive coaster?
