The Orlando-area Shingle Creek Transit and Utility Community Development District voted to commission The Boring Company for “transportation infrastructure improvements” on Feb. 11, 2026.

The Boring Company digs tunnels for transportation and freight use. The tunnel would connect Universal CityWalk with Universal Epic Universe, according to local Orlando station News6, citing a representative from a different company that also pitched a concept to the district.

The Boring Company is owned by Elon Musk. Some of its other projects include the Vegas Loop in Las Vegas as well as proposed future tunnels in Nashville and Dubai.

Epic Universe opened in May 2025 as Universal Orlando’s third theme park, but its first to physically be located away from the rest of the resort’s parks and hotels. The new park expands the destination’s footprint to an area near the Orange County Convention Center and International Drive. In contrast to the all-Disney-owned sprawling property of Walt Disney World, though, the space in between Epic Universe and the other Universal Orlando parks is not owned by Universal, and is populated by hotels, restaurants, and attractions operated by other businesses.

Guests staying at a Universal hotel can use complimentary bus transportation to make the short trip to Epic Universe — a trip made even shorter by a newly created lane reserved just for Universal buses. Day-guests park in a new lot adjacent to Epic Universe rather than at the existing Universal parking decks.

  1. This will be a disaster. Musk sells people on these tunnels, but he rarely actually finishes them. Las Vegas’ tunnel is being investigated for toxic leaks, and that’s in the desert! This one would go through Central Florida’s infamously waterlogged ground? The same area where Disney chose to build the Utilidor to give Magic Kingdom some solid ground? It’s all swampland and potential sinkholes. This has to have been a political thing.

  2. The Las Vegas tunnels have been super slow in being built. And instead of driverless electric vehicles we have vehicles with drivers. Not a favorite of mine
