Fans create Virtual Halloween 2020 to fill the holiday gap

Many Halloween fans are missing some of their favorite parts of the season, with regions around the country discouraging trick-or-treating and many popular theme park events canceled altogether. However, one group of fans is taking matters into their own hands and organizing Virtual Halloween 2020 to satisfy their holiday craving in fun, creative and horrific ways.

Virtual Halloween 2020

Virtual Halloween 2020 is the brainchild of Richard and Sarah Woloski, who just produced the online Star Wars convention, ForceFest. They want to bring Halloween fans together to bring a little levity to the holiday during this global COVID-19 pandemic with the creation of fan-sourced videos. First up, virtual trick-or-treating:

Ding, dong! Ring the doorbell, but who will answer? Halloween fans can submit brief video clips of how they might answer the door this year. Anyone can submit a video clip, and Richard and Sarah Woloski will edit them together for the final Virtual Trick-or-Treat 2020 creation. Guidelines for videos can be found here, and submissions are due Oct. 17, 2020. The final Virtual Trick-or-Treat 2020 video to be released on Oct. 27.

For those not able to travel to the theme parks for Halloween due to COVID-19 restrictions, Haunted Mansion Stitched will recreate Disney’s Haunted Mansion attraction in video form. Fans and content creators will each select a Haunted Mansion scene and recreate that moment. Submitted raw video footage will be cut together to create a fan-made ride-through video just in time for Halloween. Guidelines and details for Haunted Mansion Stitched can be found here, and video submissions are due on Oct. 12 in order to be released in time for Virtual Halloween 2020.

Once the Virtual Halloween 2020 videos are completed, we’ll be sure to update the post with the final versions. In addition to producing ForceFest, Richard and Sarah Woloski are the hosts of the Star Wars, and Disney podcast and YouTube channel, Skywalking Through Neverland.
