Defunct Myrtle Beach park sends 5 new rides to Fun Spot parks
Fun Spot America parks in Orlando, Kissimmee, and Atlanta will open rides that formerly operated at The Funplex, a closed Myrtle Beach park.
Five rides will find a new home across Fun Spot America’s three parks in Orlando and Kissimmee, Fla. and near Atlanta, Ga., ranging from thrilling to kid-friendly. The rides will be shipped over from The Funplex, a park in Myrtle Beach, S.C. (which closed in September 2024, according to WBTW News13).
New rides at Fun Spot parks
Here are all the new rides and in which Fun Spot park to find them.
Mach Fun, a tower of spinning planes: Fun Spot Orlando
Up and Overboard, an inverted pendulum ride: Fun Spot Kissimmee
Hook & Slice, a spinning ride: Fun Spot Atlanta
Tea Cups: Fun Spot Orlando (replacing existing tea cups)
Swing Around: Fun Spot Kissimmee
“Each ride has been chosen to complement the character of the park it is headed to,” said John Arie, Jr., CEO of Fun Spot America, “and will bring fresh energy to the overall guest experience.”
Fun Spot has not announced opening dates for the incoming rides.
The Funplex Myrtle Beach now defunct
A statement on The Funplex Myrtle Beach’s website reads:
Since 2021, The Funplex Myrtle Beach has been a place of thrills, laughter, and unforgettable memories. We are incredibly proud of the community we have built together and the countless smiles we have shared. It is with a heavy heart that we are leaving Myrtle Beach. The Funplex will continue to operate its two parks in Mount Laurel and East Hanover, N.J. We hope if you are in the area, you will still enjoy our parks up there. Thank you once again for being a part of our Funplex family. We cherish the memories we have created together.
