Fun Spot Orlando’s Ferris wheel comes down, set to be replaced

Fun Spot America’s iconic Ferris wheel at its Orlando location is on its way down and set to be replaced after being on the property since 1997.

As reported by the Orlando Sentinel, the 100-foot-tall wheel was the first ride purchased for the family-owned theme park and was originally manufactured in 1987. The announcement of the wheel’s removal was first revealed on the park’s Facebook page:

The gondolas have already been removed, as you can see in the photos below:

The dismantling of the original wheel should be finished in the next two weeks, and its replacement will be about the same size but with a much more intricate lighting package.

Fun Spot’s CEO John Arie Jr. told the Sentinel that the goal is to have the new Ferris wheel ready for guests to enjoy in early June.
