Give Kids the World Village has shared a statement from Pamela Landwirth, CEO and President, that the nonprofit will remain closed due to unforeseen circumstances as a result of COVID-19.
The statement was shared on social media and via the official Give Kids the World website, stating that the nonprofit’s partners at Make-A-Wish would not be scheduling future wishes that involve travel or large groups until a vaccine is in wide use, in addition to the possibility that the area’s theme parks may not be prepared to welcome vulnerable guests.

As a result of this unexpected closure extension, the majority of the staff at Give Kids the World will be laid off effective Saturday, June 27. A small team will stay on to help maintain the Village and continue communicating with supporters and families.
“I can promise you that I will work tirelessly to find a way to reopen our beloved Village as soon as possible,” said Landwirth in the statement.
In the meantime, Give Kids the World is hosting a special Zoom call featuring voice actors from the “Toy Story” films to benefit the Village, which you can learn more about here.
