Fan’s excitement over Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind increased when it was announced the attraction would open in Summer 2022, and today, April 4, 2022, Disney Parks Blog announced that the attraction now has an opening date of May 27.

Based on Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies – the first of which came out in 2014, with a sequel in 2017 and an expected third movie in 2023—the attraction is expected to be an action-packed, high-energy adventure through the cosmos.

Check out Disney’s video, We’re Losing Time:

The scene is set outside the pavilion, where a Xandrian Blaster Starship has landed, and just like at each country-themed pavilion in Epcot, the Xandarians have created an other-world showcase where visitors can learn about their culture, their history, and their customs.

Then, according to Disney Parks Blog, during guests’ visits, someone shouts “This is an SOS from Nova Corps…Our outpost on Earth’s Epcot is in danger!”

An apparent Nova Corps soldier shouts, “Everything is disappearing!”

At that point, visitors to the pavilion can see everything outside – from people to clouds, and more – “zipping backwards out of existence.” Almost as if time and space are “Rewinding.”

Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord, and other Guardians of the galaxy, are seen relaxing during a break in their missions, while Rocket is trying to fix Quill’s “Awesome Mix” tape.

But Groot is paying attention to what’s happening, and unmutes the volume on a viewscreen communicator just in time to hear an officers distress call.

“Help the galaxy – before it’s too late!”

Rocket takes notice, even while Star-Lord continues to snooze, and takes the ship’s contols, blasting off from Epcot on a high-stakes mission, saying “It’s save the galaxy time – again!”

That’s visitors’ cue that their mission has begun, too. As Rocket takes the M-ship into a  jump point for travel between massive space distances, Starjumpers await those who will be helping the Guardians of the galaxy on an intergalactic chase through time and space.

Fans have been given various peeks inside the attraction, and on May, 27 they can be among the first riders to experience the thrills.

Cast members have a special treat coming, as well. They and their families will have several opportunities to experience the storyline of the new attraction before it opens to guests, with cast exclusive, early-access beginning in April, followed by cast member previews in May.
