Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark returns for Halloween at Disney California Adventure
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney California Adventure will transform once again this Halloween season into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark.

This frightfully fun addition to the already high-energy attraction is only available to guests during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, from Sept. 6 – Oct. 31.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark picks up where Mission: BREAKOUT! left off, as Rocket realizes that in the rush to free his friends from the Collector’s Fortress, he accidentally left baby Groot behind. Now Rocket needs your help to distract all the monsters he’s let loose inside while he rescues his tiny friend.
Joe Rohde, creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, called this version of the ride “creepy, chaotic and very funny.” Rohde worked on the development of the original attraction.

The attraction’s transformation into Monsters After Dark takes place each evening, as the Collector’s Fortress goes dark, alarms sound off and special lighting on the exterior of the ride alerts guests that something has gone terribly wrong.
When guests enter the lobby of the Fortress, they’ll see flashing alarms and hear creepy sounds – warnings that creatures have escaped and chaos reigns. The Collector’s assistant Apheta will try to reassure you that all is fine, and that this is just a momentary setback.
Once on the actual gantry lift itself, riders will hear the 1970s-style punk rock song, “Monsters After Dark,” written by Tyler Bates, the composer for the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark is only available during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. To check the timing of this nighttime transformation, guests can check park times guides, the official Disneyland app, or visit Disneyland.com.
