‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ returning to movie theaters for 20th anniversary | ‘Back to Hogwarts’ 2025
“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” will return to movie theaters in August and September 2025 to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary and the franchise’s annual “Back to Hogwarts” campaign.
Chronicling Harry’s fourth year at Hogwarts, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” will return to select movie theaters in the U.S. starting Aug. 10, 2025, and continuing select dates the weeks following. Some cities currently display screening dates as far in advance as Sept. 29.

The theatrical return celebrates two occasions. Firstly, Warner Bros. annually acknowledges Sept. 1 with a “Back to Hogwarts” marketing campaign, tying in with the in-universe date of Sept. 1 being when students board the Hogwarts Express to begin the new school year. For 2025, Warner Bros. will host a “Back to Hogwarts” online showcase, premiering on the Harry Potter YouTube channel Sept. 1 at 5:40 a.m. ET.
Secondly, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025, having originally debuted Nov. 18, 2005, in movie theaters.
“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” was directed by Mike Newell and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Ralph Fiennes, Brendan Gleeson, and Robert Pattinson.

It’s Harry Potter’s fourth term at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! Harry, Ron, and Hermione look forward to the international Quidditch finals. Harry dreams of spending time with the alluring Cho Chang. He wants to be a normal 14-year-old wizard . . . But Harry is not normal — even by wizarding standards.
This term, for the first time in hundreds of years, a competition will be held between three schools of wizardry, and contestants will be magically chosen for the very dangerous event. Now, as Harry’s lightning scar burns, indicating the evil presence of Lord Voldemort, the Goblet of Fire makes its final selection for the competition —Harry Potter.
“Harry Potter” fans can step into a new realm of the Wizarding World at Universal Epic Universe, the new theme park that opened in May 2025 at Universal Orlando. There, Dolores Umbridge returns and stands trial for her crimes in an all-new ride, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry.
