‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ back in movie theaters for 1 day only
“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” will return to movie theaters in the Regal Cinemas chain for one day only, on Dec. 27, 2025.

The movie is part of Regal’s “HS25” holiday classics schedule, screening one Christmas movie each day in December; though admittedly “Sorcerer’s Stone” stretches the parameters for what qualifies as a holiday film. Though it does include a few scenes taking place on Christmas Day — complete with a transcendent score by John Williams — the story unfolds over the course of a full school year. (Standards such as “Elf,” “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” are also on Regal’s schedule.)
First released in 2001, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” is the film that started it all. The movie is directed by Chris Columbus (“Home Alone”) and introduces the series’ stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley. In this first volume of Harry’s tale, the 11-year-old boy learns he’s a wizard and leaves his cruel aunt and uncle’s home to learn the ways of magic at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The story is currently being adapted into the first season of an upcoming HBO “Harry Potter” series.
This holiday season, “Potter” fans have plenty to enjoy, whether at home or on vacation. Butterbeer coffee creamer is set to hit grocery stores any day now, a new Ministry of Magic realm of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is open at Universal Epic Universe, and Tom Felton is reprising his role of Draco Malfoy in Broadway’s “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”
