First-ever Hello Kitty Grand Cafe to open in Irvine, CA

Sanrio, the brand best known for pop culture icon Hello Kitty, will open the new Hello Kitty Grand Cafe in Irvine, Calif. on Sept. 14, 2018.

The Hello Kitty Grand Cafe will officially open on Sept. 14.

This opening is the first and only permanent Hello Kitty cafe in the U.S. featuring a fast-casual cafe setting open to the public, and a separate private space with reservation-only afternoon tea and cocktail service.

Guests can stop by the Hello Kitty Grand Cafe for a visit, with grab-and-go seating for up to 12 people. The popular Hello Kitty Cafe menu is available here, as well as exclusive new menu additions like made-to-order mini hot donuts (cinnamon sugar; matcha; cookies n’ cream) and a pick-your-own 4-piece set of Sanrio character mini cakes.

A look at the door to reservation-only Bow Room.

The fun continues with The Bow Room – a hidden, reservation-only room with modern Hello Kitty-branded fixtures that offers afternoon tea by day, and cocktail service at night.

With a bow-shaped knocker at the entrance, The Bow Room will offer an exclusive, reservation-only experience for Hello Kitty fans.

The Afternoon Tea Service ($55 per person) will be available Wednesdays through Sundays by reservation only, and include a delicious array of seasonal fruit; tea sandwiches; and sweets like Buttermilk Scones, Hello Kitty Mini Cakes, Raspberry Macarons, and Chocolate Chocolate Cake; in addition to an extensive tea selection with a variety of black, green, oolong, and caffeine teas, as well as a special Birthday Tea blend.

Check out some of the cocktails offered in The Bow Room.

At night, The Bow Room will become a cocktail bar for guests ages 21 and older from 5 p.m. nightly Wednesdays – Sundays by reservation only. Libations will feature a Hello Kitty twist, with drinks titled “You Had Me At Hello,” “Matcha Matcha,” “Dear Daniel,” and “1974.”

The Bow Room will also offer a curated wine list that includes sparkling wine, pinot grigio, champagne, pinot noir, sauvignon blanc and rosé by the glass and bottle. Select by-the-bottle offerings will also be available, like the Hello Kitty Sparkling Rosé, Hello Kitty Prosecco, Hello Kitty Pinot Grigio, and Piper Heidsieck Cuvee Brut.

Hours of operation for the Hello Kitty Grand Cafe are:

    • 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. (Monday – Thursday)
    • 11 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. (Friday)
    • 10 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. (Saturday)
    • 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. (Sunday)

Hours for The Bow Room include: (Wednesday-Sunday only; by reservation only)

    • 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Wednesday – Friday)
    • 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Saturday – Sunday)

    • 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. (Friday – Saturday)
