Ice!, featuring Frosty the Snowman, now open at Gaylord Palms Resort

“Happy Birthday!” That’s the greeting Frosty the Snowman gives when he comes to life, and guests who visit Ice! at the Gaylord Palms Resort will see his entire cartoon come to life in ice sculptures. Besides the separately-ticketed Ice! attraction, Gaylord has live musical stage shows and beautiful decorations that can be seen for just the price of parking.

More than two million pounds of hand-carved vibrant ice sculptures bring your favorite scenes to life in a nine-degree frosty palace, so guests will want to bundle up. Besides, a little extra padding will come in handy when sliding down the four, two-story ice slides in the slide room.

New this year is a bonus area – the Frostbite Factory featuring Artisans in Action – a live ice-carving zone. Guests can watch a masterful ice carver from Harbin, China, home of the International Ice and Snow Festival, as he creates amazing sculptures. He is part of a team of 40 talented artisans who travel from Harbin to work for more than a month to slice and shave 6,000 blocks of colored and clear ice, each weighing approximately 400 pounds.

This attraction concludes with the traditional nativity scene in ice. Of course a gift shop and hot cocoa are also available.

Guests can also purchase Gingy’s Gingerbread Decorating experience hosted by Gingy from DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek. Here, guests can also meet Gingy for a hug and a photo with their camera.

Christmas at Gaylord Palms also features more than two million twinkling lights and lavish holiday displays, including:
• A 54-foot-tall Christmas tree and a tree-lighting ceremony
• DreamWorks Animation characters
• Live stage shows

Ice! is open daily through Jan. 5, 2014, including holidays. Parkas are provided, but guests are encouraged to wear hats, gloves, warm socks and other cold-weather accessories to walk through the Ice! attraction. Close-toed shoes are required for entry.

Ice ticket prices are $28.99 per adult if purchased in advance. Florida residents can save $4 per ticket with the promotional code FLR13. Self parking is $18. Gaylord Palms Resort is located five minutes from the gates of Walt Disney World at 6000 W. Osceola Parkway in Kissimmee.
