Iron Gwazi, the world’s fastest and steepest hybrid coaster, will open exclusively for Pass Members on select dates starting Feb. 11, with the ride opening to all visitors on March 11, 2022. After showing their Annual Pass, eligible riders will be among the first to conquer the record-breaking thrill ride.

On the new coaster, riders will plunge from a 206-foot-tall peak down a 91-degree drop and reach a top speed of 76 miles per hour — all while racing along more than 4,000 feet of track. With a height requirement of just 48 inches, the whole family can experience Iron Gwazi together.

“The incredible anticipation for Iron Gwazi is shared by both our guests and Ambassadors, and we are beyond excited to open this amazing coaster,” said Neal Thurman, president of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. “Iron Gwazi diversifies our thrill ride portfolio and is an impressive addition to the Tampa skyline. Combining classic elements of a wooden coaster with a smooth, steel track will provide thrill seekers with an unforgettable experience.”

Manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction, better known as RMC to coaster fans, this coaster is a wood and steel hybrid design and incorporates elements of Gwazi’s previous life as a wooden coaster.
