Kings Island moving to all cashless payments starting mid-July

Leave your dollars at home — Kings Island is officially going cashless starting mid-July.

Once the transition takes place, all in-park locations will only accept credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Why the change? On the park’s official website, the change means that Kings Island is “able to conduct contact-less transactions, and it’s faster, safer and always secure.”

Don’t have a card? Don’t worry, as Kings Island has Cash-to-Card kiosks that can transfer cash to a card with no fees — and the card can be used anywhere, not just at the park. There are multiple kiosk locations at Kings Island and Soak City Water Park, including:

Kings Island Locations

  • Front Gate Main Entrance
  • Festhaus
  • Diamondback Trading Post
  • Coney Mall Arcade

Soak City Water Park Locations

  • Restrooms by Rendezvous Run

Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Mo. has also gone cashless, which you can learn more about here.

  1. Horrible idea!!!
Last I checked cash is still legal tender throughout the entire United States
Any theme park that does this would lose me as a customer
