Knott’s Scary Farm unleashes new frights
Knott’s Scary Farm, the Halloween season’s version of Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif., transforms the park into a nightmare of monsters from September 22 – October 31, 2022, with five new scares and 12 returning terrors from years past.
Celebrating its 49th year, Knott’s Scary Farm immersive experience is a maniacal mix of nine terrifying mazes, three shocking shows, and five frightful scare zones, and this year’s lineup has something new to offer horror fans.
Knott’s Scary Farm new offerings
Bloodline 1842 – When the unwary enter this maze, they’d better be armed with the latest Bellatorian weaponry to take on the immortal Daybreakers while hunting for the bloodthirsty Valhymphri in the busy city streets of Valdonia. The only road to honor is by bringing light to the darkness and surviving the vampire onslaught.
The Grimoire –Dark stories of ancient relics turn this maze into a nightmare for the unsuspecting. Escape demonic creatures in a world created by a mysterious spell book, or be trapped with them for all of eternity.
Beyond the Fog: A behind-the-scenes tour of Knott’s Scary Farm – Join this three-hour tour for a behind-the-scenes look at the work of the talented builders and creators who make the event come to life. Learn about the history of the annual event during a walking tour of several mazes, all with the lights turned on and the frights turned off.
“Le Magnifique Carnaval du Grotesque” – It’s truly a carnival of the grotesque as a collection of death-defying feats and dangerous carnival acts play out in this reimagined show on the Calico Mine Stage.
“Conjurers: Dark Magic” – Bird Cage Theater transforms into a den of death as the Undertaker searches for new victims, with a few tricks up his sleeve. Is death no longer the end?
Returning mazes from years past
Mesmer: Slideshow of the Mind – Enter the tent and learn the secret of the human mind as hypnotist Mesmer and his sinister sideshow make a meal of visitors’ hidden fears within a world of madness, torture, and enlightenment. What grotesque secrets will be revealed?
Wax Works – Strange noises and mysterious lights have been observed at an abandoned wax museum. Blood-curdling screams of victims submerged in a scorching hot cauldron of wax fill the air. And Dr. Angustus Scratch, once a prominent plastic surgeon, is the reason. He’s preparing to show off his masterpiece of molten wax and bloody flesh, and he’s inviting visitors to drop by and take a look.
Origins: The Curse of Calico – What’s up with all that evil fog hanging over Knott’s Scary Farm? It’s the work of paranormal activity plaguing the town during the trial of Sarah Marshall, suspected of crimes of witchcraft. The Green Witch has risen and cursed the townsfolk, who are now her malicious minions.
Pumpkin Eater – Heads will roll when the uninitiated enter this maze and come face to face with pumpkin monsters. A once-terrorized town is now as silent as a graveyard while Pumpkin Eater is on the prowl, and those who dare to take on the quest will endure a cave of crawling insets and a labyrinth of thorns as they try to escape or face a horrific demise.
Dark Ride – Carnies shunned by the world are out for revenge at the Dark Ride: Castle of Chaos attraction, subjecting visitors to a treacherous journey into the bowels of the long-neglected ride. With no obvious way out, will they be trapped forever when the ride is shut down for good?
The Depths – Ancient creatures lurk in pitch-black underground caves near an abandoned port village draped in heavy fog. The Nightwatch Mining Crew has disappeared. Myths surround the caves, and only the bravest will discover whether the crew met their demise at the hands of vicious cave-dwellers…if they survive the journey into darkness.
Dark Entities – An evil mutation of extraterrestrial origin has invaded a lone space station and is feeding on unwilling victims. Those who have survived so far (you) must escape the dark entity, and time is running out.
Knott’s Scary Farm scare zones
Terror spills into the streets and midways with these returning scare zones:
The Gore-ing 20s – Gangsters, ghostly revelers jacked up on illicit hootch, and otherworldly musicians take over, and those who tell the secret password to the Bouncer might just make it out alive.
Ghost Town Streets – The one that started it all! Enter the town where half-human, half-animal freaks prowl the streets, and be prepared, if you can be, for the notorious sliders who lunge from fog-filled corners.
Carnevil – Clowns. ‘Nuff said.
The Hollow – Enter a wicked world where Witches of the Hollow and their crazed creatures are doing battle with the Witch Hunter.
Forsaken Lake – Gothic creatures ravaged by the murky waters underneath Silver Bullet have emerged from their crypts and are looking for victims to drag back to the watery depths.
