The Little Mermaid stage show at Hollywood Studios returning in a new form

The Voyage of The Little Mermaid stage show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been closed since 2020. It was one thing that didn’t return after the pandemic, until now. But it’s not returning as you knew it. “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” will be a fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios “The Little Mermaid”. It’s set to debut in the newly refreshed Animation Courtyard theater fall 2024. 

When the new show opens, it will feature musical numbers including “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and “Kiss the Girl” , which is an all-new addition that wasn’t part of the previous show. The show is said to have “stunning new set pieces and cutting-edge effects”.

The show first opened on Jan. 7, 1992 at what was then Disney-MGM Studios, It replaced the “Here Come the Muppets” stage show. The Voyage of The Little Mermaid featured animation, live performers, puppets, and special effects. Here’s a look at the show, recorded eight years ago.
