MegaCon Orlando 2020 canceled, new event coming Halloween weekend

As a result of the global and local developments with COVID-19, MegaCon Orlando 2020 has been canceled.

The event will return on March 18-21, 2021, but as a surprise for fans, MegaCon has announced a new event that will take place on Halloween weekend.

Called MegaCon Orlando: Limited Edition, this new event will take place on Oct. 30 – Nov. 1, 2020 at the Orange County Convention Center. The event, in order to keep guests safe and offer an exclusive experience, will be limited to 25,000 tickets and once they’re sold out, they’re sold out.

All admission tickets for this year’s event will automatically be transferred to MegaCon Orlando: Limited Edition. If you purchased a Thursday ticket to the con, you’ll receive an upgrade to a Friday ticket for October. If you bought a youth ticket, you’ll get a complimentary upgrade to an adult ticket.

If you can’t make the October dates or have change your mind about attending, you can request a refund by May 31, 2020. Special events for MegaCon Orlando will automatically be refunded. Epic Photo Ops will also refund any purchased photo ops and autographs.

The guest list for the new event is currently in progress and is set to be announced on Aug. 1.

If you were planning on attending this year’s convention, here are your current options:

• Apply for MegaCon Orlando: Limited Edition, and if accepted, transfer your fees to this convention
• If you’re an exhibitor, transfer your booth fees to the 2021 convention at the rate you received in 2020
• Receive a full refund
